IGNOU Admission 2026: Indira Gandhi National Open University started the admission process for the academic session of January 2026-27. The online registration window will open for various UG, PG, Diploma, Certificate and other courses such as BA, BCA, MA, MBA, PGDM, etc. Once, the application forms are out, interested students will be able to fill them out by visiting the website https://ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in/. The expected last date for IGNOU Admission 2026-27 January session is 31 January 2026.

For those students who have already enrolled in any UG or PG course at IGNOU, the university has started the Readmission process to go in the next academic semester/year. After ending the last date on 31 January 2026, late fees will be applicable to get Re-admission.

• IGNOU Admission for the January 2026-24 session started and the last date for submission of the online application form is 31 January 2026.

IGNOU Admission is started for January 2026-27 sessions. Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) offers a variety of courses in Undergraduate, Postgraduate, PHd, Diploma and Certificate courses in many streams. IGNOU offer admission two times every year January session and the July session, in online and offline mode for every course. Candidates who wish to pursue any degree, Diploma, certificate or any other course can apply through the IGNOU official website. IGNOU Admission 2026-27 last date is 31 January 2026 for the January session.

IGNOU Admission Process 2026-2027

A candidate about to apply for Ignou must read the important instructions. 

Go to the Admission portal ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in. Read Once the instructions have been furnished regarding the how-to application form.

• Click on the button bar “Click here for New Registration”. 
• Fill out the “Student Registration Form” shown on your display. 
• Create a username to log in. 
• After entering all personal details click on register to move forward. 
• Permanent Address, Correspondence address, email id, and what number should be accurate to communicate the Admit card, books, study materials, Question Papers/Assignments, etc. 
• At the next step, you are asked to fill in academic details, Fill it. 
• Then a scanned photograph and scanned signature in the asked size and format will be required to upload. Likewise, upload your scanned documents and academic certificates required. 
• Fee Payment will be the last step to ensure you submit your application form, Pay 300 INR through Debit/ Credit/Internet Banking or UPI.

IGNOU Admission 2026-27 Last Date

IGNOU UG Admission 2026-27

At the undergraduate level, IGNOU offers admission to a variety of UG courses like BA, BBA, BCA, BCom, BSc, BSW, and many others in various specializations. Candidates who wish to pursue graduation in the IGNOU UG Admission 2026-27 January session from a distance can apply at the University. The UG admission process on 05 December 2026 and the last date will be 31 January 2026.

Candidate who completed their 10+2 this year and willing to pursue graduation in Arts, Commerce, Science, Technology, Management, Mass communication etc. Can apply for admission in the January 2026-27 session.

IGNOU offers UG courses admission every year two times for semester and yearly courses There are two sessions in January and July. for UG courses and for some UG courses like BSc Nursing and B.Ed Candidates must complete their 10+2 in Science stream with 50% marks and after that candidates must face the entrance test and admission is open only once a year for these courses. For other General UG course eligibility criteria normal candidates must clear their 10+2 from a recognized board with a minimum of 40 To 50% marks.

IGNOU PG Admission 2026-27

IGNOU PG Admission 2026-27 January session will start on 05 December 2026 for various programmes like MA, MBA, MCA, MCom, MSc, MWS, and many others. The university will start the admission process Online and Offline both modes for the interested candidates. All postgraduate courses and the application portal will remain open till 31 January 2026. Admission in maximum PG Courses based on students' previous academic performances.

IGNOU offers a variety of courses for Postgraduation in ODL mode for some courses like MCA, MCom, MSc etc. Online courses for post-graduation are MA, MARDOL, MCOMOL etc. IGNOU offers admission two times a year in every academic year for January and July sessions for post-graduate programs.

IGNOU BEd Admission 2026-27

Admission to BEd in IGNOU for the January Session is going to start in December 2026. The Last date to apply for an entrance exam is tentative 31st January 2026. The two-year duration course can be studied in Hindi and English languages mode. The application fee is 1000 INR and the Course fee for complete 2 years is 55,000 INR 

BEd: Educational Qualification and Entrance Exam   

1. i) A Bachelor's degree with 50% for general and 45% for reserved category and
2. ii) Open Net Ed. Entrance Exam scorecard conducted by IGNOU. 

IGNOU PhD Admission 2026-27

To get admission to PhD courses in the January session of 2026, Candidates will be able to apply for the IGNOU PhD entrance exam from November 2026 until 25 December 2026. Application forms will be submitted on the portal www.ignouphd.samarth.edu.in.

IGNOU PhD Entrance test will be held in January 2026, Without an entrance test ignou won't get admission into PHD and Bed programmes. admission candidates must face the entrance test and after qualifying candidates can get admission to IGNOU University.

IGNOU Ph.D. Eligibility Criteria: A postgraduate degree in a related discipline with 50% marks should have the candidate's research on any topic related to Chemistry, Anthropology, Hindi, Geography, English, Journalism, Humanity, and many others.

Entrance Exam: No admission will be granted without participation and a valid score of the IGNOU PhD entrance exam, conducted by IGNOU itself in Offline mode only.

Fees: Application fees of 1000 INR will be charged. The admission fee for the PhD (with course work)  is 17,850 INR for 1st year and 8,400 per year for the remaining two years.

Candidates who opt for a PhD program without coursework will have to pay only 9,450 INR at admission time and 8,400 INR each year for the next two years.

IGNOU Online Courses Admission 2026-27

IGNOU offers degrees/certificates in three categories - Degrees, Diplomas, Certificates at all Bachelor level degrees/Diploma/Certificates, Master level Degrees/Diploma/certificates, and Doctoral level Degrees/Certificates/Diploma.

Candidates can apply through the portal www.ignouphd.samarth.edu.in after 5th December 2026. Wishing to get admission in Online courses in the January session 2026 can apply through the portal www.ignouphd.samarth.edu.in and before the last date 31st January 2026.

IGNOU was established keeping the aim to offer distance and online education by an act of Parliament 1985 and recognised under UGC Act 1956. All the courses offered by IGNOU are approved by NCTE and AICTE and keep the same values as the degrees/certificates/diplomas in other universities.

IGNOU Admission 2026-27: Types of Courses

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) is one of the largest open universities in the world. The university under an Act of Parliament, was established in 1985, in the name of former PM Indira Gandhi, after her assassination. It offers a total of 226 courses at UG, PG, certificate, Diploma, and doctoral degrees categorized through 21 schools. 

The education is offered online and distance, through its 56 regional centres, 1843 study centres, and 21 overseas centres in 15 countries. The university aims to offer quality education opportunities to all segments of society.

We see that IGNOU offers online courses at all four levels - Diploma, Certificates, Bachelor, and Master level.

Diploma level courses: IGNOU provides only 11 diploma courses certificates and education in ODL Mode.  

Certificates level Courses: Candidates can be enrolled in any certificate courses among 15 to gain education and certificates in ODL mode.

Bachelor level Degrees: Only five degrees and education at the bachelor level- Bachelor in Social work, Computer Application, Commerce, Information Science, and Tourism are taught in ODL Mode.

Master Level Degree: At the Master level only 15 degrees and education are provided in online mode.

IGNOU Application Form 2026-27

IGNOU Application form will released in the last week of December for the academic session 2026-27 January session. The forms will be released on the official portal https://ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in/ for admission to various UG, PG, Diploma and Certificate courses. Students who want admission to any course at IGNOU are required to fill out the form and complete the registration process within the given deadline. Apart from general courses, the university releases the applications for BEd, post-basic nursing and PhD entrance tests in November.

An application fee of 300 INR will be charged for traditional Courses while, For entrance courses, the fee is INR 1000/ for the general students. IGNOU Application Form 2026-27 January session last date is 31 January 2026 (tentative).

Documents Required for IGNOU Admission 2026-27

Before moving to the procedure one should keep the following details and documents.

• Scanned photograph and signature.
• Scanned copies of academic certificates and related documents.

IGNOU Eligibility Criteria 2026-27

IGNOU offers Certificates Course, Diploma Courses, Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses in various disciplines. Separate courses require minimum educational qualifications individually related to their specialization. 

For all UG courses like BA/B.Sc/B.Com, a candidate must have a 10+2 secondary education certificate with a minimum of 50% marks in any stream or an equivalent certificate. 

Before applying for PG courses like MA/M.Sc/M.Com/MBA/MCA a candidate must have a bachelor's degree in arts/science/commerce/Ag with minimum a grade point equal to 50% Marks or CGPA.

BA, BCom, BSc, BBA, and BPP IGNOU Admission 2026-27:  These Courses at IGNOU require a 10+2 secondary, diploma or equivalent with 50% marks for general and 45% for sc/st/pwd category

BLIS: One year of Bachelor of Library and Information Science, requires 

i) A Bachelor's degree in any stream with at least 50% marks (45% for sc/st/pwd).

ii) Or A one-year Diploma in Library Science with a Bachelor's degree.

iii) Or Any undergraduate degree with two years of experience in Library Information is eligible to apply.

BSc Nursing: i) A student after 10+2 must have a GNM course

ii)  Or A BSc degree in biology is eligible for Post Basic Bsc Nursing.

B.Sc and BBA(SM) Entrance Exam: Apart from the 10+2 qualification, these courses require a scorecard of the Open NET entrance exam conducted by IGNOU.

IGNOU Entrance Exams for 2026-24

Open MAT: Earlier, the Open Management Admission Test was an all-India Level Entrance Test which is conducted by IGNOU to give admission in Management courses at master-level programs. 

• Eligibility: Minimum 50% marks should be there in a bachelor's degree such as BBA, BCA, or B.Sc.
• Student having B.A. degree, B.A. Media Studies, L.LB or B.Ed degree with a minimum 50% of marks are eligible to apply for the entrance exam. Students must have a bachelor's degree in any stream for MBA. 

ED IGNOU Entrance: Ignou holds an Education Entrance exam for admission to the B.ED Course. 

• Eligibility: The entrance Test requires a bachelor's degree with 50% marks/Master's degree in the Sociology/Commerce/Science stream.
• Students who passed with a B.Tech Degree also are considered eligible for the Application.

IGNOU Re-Registration 2026-27

The Re-registration form is mandatory to go/be promoted in the next year/semester/class. Those students who are studying at IGNOU already are required to go through this process. The last date of Re-Registration for the January 2026 session will be 31 January 2026.

To submit the re-registration form follow the following steps:

• Open the portal https://onlinerr.ignou.ac.in/  and click on New Registration.
• After creating the Password and User ID, it will be sent to the provided email and mobile (SMS).
• Do Re-login and and Fill Re-Registration form online by entering your enrollment number, subjects, and course name.
• Fee Payment can be submitted through Credit/Debit/UPI/Bhim/Internet Banking.

IGNOU Assignment 2026-27

Indira Gandhi National Open University ( IGNOU) has uploaded all the assignments, tasks, and assignments for the June 2026 to July 2026 session. Possibly this also will apply to the students about to enroll in the January 2026 Session. Assignments have been uploaded on the https://webservices.ignou.ac.in/assignments/ website.

Students of Master’s Degree Programmes, Bachelor’s Degree Programs, P.G. Diploma, Diploma, Certificates Programs, P.G. Certificates Programmes, and Appreciation Course Programs will have to submit their assignments before the Re-Registration form filling.

Along with this IGNOU also has uploaded credits and guidelines on how to write assignments and what details must appear on the Front Page of Assignments. All the Assignments will be submitted at the nearest Study Centre where candidates have been registered.
