Candidates for the PhD programme must pass an online exam.

For M.Tech. programmes, students may apply directly on the basis of merit using a valid GATE score in the appropriate discipline against GATE seats or using the results of the CUET-PG test administered by NTA for Non-GATE seats. Holders with valid GATE scores are eligible for the AICTE's GATE scholarship. To ensure their admissions, GATE-qualified applicants may additionally apply for admission through CUET(PG)-2023.

Candidates must have a Class 10+2 diploma, a Bachelor's degree from an approved university with at least 60% of the required grades, and There will be a 5% grade point or equivalent mark relaxation for applicants from the restricted category in order to be eligible for admission to Tezpur University.
