The College was upgraded to a degree-granting institution and given state government sponsorship in June 1956. That same year, it was also included in the Ministry of Rehabilitation's Refugee Education Programme, with the State Government retaining oversight. It was also at this time that the college was given the hallowed name of Swami Vivekananda, a great patriot and social reformer who served as the inspiration for modern India and was an immortal expression of the spirit of India.

The University of Calcutta's Faculty of Arts, Science, and Commerce currently provides Honors-level instruction in 19 topics at Vivekananda College for undergraduate programs. In addition, beginning in the academic year 2002-2003, the degree program offered statistics and general electronics courses. Yet, there is still a need for advancement or the introduction of new topics in the developing fields. As a result, two more new subjects Human Rights(General) and Women Studies(General) were added starting in 2009-2010. Since the 2013-2014 academic year, geography (general) has been introduced.

Under the Faculty of Science, Commerce, and Arts, the college provides undergraduate courses in 19 different discipline areas. The Vivekananda College provides the MA degree in two specialities under Post Graduation. The college also offers a 1-year certificate program in microfinance management that is supported by UGC.

Undergraduate and Postgraduate admissions processes are conducted rigorously in accordance with merit/marks. All courses have seats set aside for applicants who are physically disabled, OBC, or SC/ST. By completing the application form, candidates can apply to the college either online or offline.

Vivekananda College UG Admission 2024

At the UG level, Vivekananda College grants degrees in BA, B.Sc, and B.Com. All the courses are available at Hons. and General level. Candidates must have completed their 10+2 grade level with at least a 50-55% overall grade point average from an accredited board to be considered for admission to any UG program. The qualifying examination results will be taken into consideration while making the decision.

• Candidates for the BA Hons. the program must have earned at least 45-50% in their chosen stream in 10+2 grade to qualify.
• For SC/ST students, the minimum percentage necessary in 10+2 grade for Hons. programs is 40%, while for BA, B.Sc Hons., and B.Sc General programs, the minimum percentage required in the top 4 subjects is 35-40%.
• The applicants' combined marks for the 10+2 grade level will be determined by taking into account their performance in the top 4 disciplines. Candidates who have graduated from the West Bengal Board, another board, or a university must have earned passing grades in selected 5 courses, at least one of which must be in a language.
• Within 2 months following the admission date, candidates from other boards must submit their migration certificates to the college academic section.
• Candidates for the B.Sc with Honors in Economics program must have achieved success in mathematics at the 10+2 grade level.

Vivekananda College PG Admission 2024

The university offers 2 specialities in MA course that show in the following Bengali and History language. Calcutta University is associated with the courses being provided by the college to the students.
