Inspired by Pandit Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar, the college aimed to provide higher education and promote nationalism during British rule. Over time, it grew into a renowned institution, offering courses like B.A., B.L., and M.A., and became known for its excellent Arts and Science faculties. In 1930, it moved to its current location, and after India’s independence in 1947, it expanded into three branches. By 1979, it became co-educational and introduced Post Graduate studies in Zoology in 2005. The college celebrated its Diamond Jubilee in 1947 and its 100th anniversary in 1987, attended by many famous alumni. Today, Bangabasi College continues to inspire students with its tradition of excellence.
