Calcutta School of Tropical Medicine Admission: The School of Tropical Medicine (STM),founded in 1914 by Sir Leonard Rogers, is one of seven institutions dedicated to studying and treating tropical diseases. Located in Kolkata, it started functioning independently in 1921 and has been a pioneer in research, post-graduate education, and healthcare for tropical diseases. Many renowned scientists, like Ronald Ross, contributed to its legacy, and its hospital section is named Carmichael Hospital for Tropical Diseases. The institute, now under the West Bengal University of Health Sciences, also runs a Centre of Excellence for advanced research on diseases like HIV/HBV co-infection. In 2021, it added a new department focused on infectious diseases and advanced microbiology.
