DHSK. Commerce College Admission: The idea of starting a commerce college in Dibrugarh was dreamed up by some very smart and hardworking people from the region. They were guided by famous educationists like Dr. L.P. Dutt and Dr. N.K. Basu. Thanks to their efforts, Dibrugarh Hanumanbux Surajmal Kanoi (D.H.S.K.) Commerce College was born. Back in the mid-1900s, some forward-thinking people in Dibrugarh realized how important it was to teach commerce in the town. To make this dream come true, commerce classes were first started in D.H.S.K. College in 1945, but only in the evenings. Soon, more and more students, teachers, and even the general public began to feel that the town needed a full-time commerce college. This led to the establishment of D.H.S.K. Commerce College in 1960.The foundation stone of the college building was laid by Morarji Desai, who was the Finance Minister of India at the time. Interestingly, Dibrugarh University also began its journey from this very building and operated here until 1968.
