This university was established in 1956 and is located in Dindigul, Tamil Nadu. Gandhigram Rural Institute provides many courses at the UG level and PG level. University also provides Ph.D. courses in many streams.

Gandhigram Rural Institute some admission depends on the entrance exam and some admission depends on the merit basis. For admission in M.Tech. the candidate needs to clear the GATE exam. For admission the university has some eligibility criteria that are given below:-

• If the candidate takes admission in any graduation courses like BA and B.Com then the candidate needs to minimum 12th or equivalent mark sheet from the recognized Board.
• If the candidate takes admission in B.Ed. then the candidate required the UG/PG degree from a well-known university with 55% marks.
• If the candidate takes admission in B.Tech then must be required the 12th mark sheet in PCM subjects with a minimum of 45% marks from a recognized board.
• If the candidate is interested in Ph.D. admission then the candidate must be required the Master's degree in a relevant subject from a recognized board.
• The admission in M.A. courses depends on the counseling.
