The Central University of Jharkhand (CUJ) is a teaching and research Central University of India, established by an act of the Indian Parliament (Act no. 25 of 2009) in 2009.
The University came to its existence after the then president of India and visitor of the Central University of Jharkhand, Her Excellency, Smt. Pratibha Patil, appointed Prof. Darlando T. Khathing, as its first Vice-Chancellor on 1 March 2009. The current Vice-Chancellor is Prof. Dr. Nanda Kumar Yadav 'Indu'.
