MES College, Bengaluru, Admission: A group of thoughtful citizens in Malleshwaram wanted to start a college for girls who had to travel far for higher studies, so they opened MES College in 1956-57 with just 68 students. It began in a small house called Anandashram, where students and teachers shared a close bond, like in ancient Gurukulas. Over time, MES grew into a large and respected institution, known for giving value-based education at a low cost. Today, MES runs two schools, four pre-university colleges, three degree colleges, and a research center, serving around 15,000 students with the help of about 100 teachers. Many students from MES have gone on to become leaders in fields like sports, music, arts, politics, and public service, making it one of Karnataka’s top educational institutions.
