Sree Ayyappa College for Women, Admission: Sree Ayyappa College for Women was started in 1970 with the motto “Siksha Dharmena Shobathe,” meaning education shines through moral values. It is run by the Sree Ayyappa Educational Society, formed by Malayalam-speaking people in Kanyakumari District. The society first opened a junior college for boys in 1969 but changed it to a women’s college in 1970 with permission from Madurai University because more girls needed higher education. In 1987, the college got linguistic minority status, helping not only Malayalam-speaking students but also other underprivileged groups.
