Sanskrit college Admission: Sanskrit College was started in 1824 during British rule in India to teach ancient Indian subjects like Sanskrit, philosophy, Hindu law, and culture. Important leaders like H.H. Wilson and scholars like Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar helped build it into a top institution. Over 188 years, it became famous for its library with 200,000+ books and rare manuscripts, attracting scholars worldwide. It broke traditions by admitting students from all communities in 1851 and revived old teaching methods like the "Tol" system. The college played a big role in sparking the Bengal Renaissance, a time of cultural and social change in India. In 2016, it became The Sanskrit College and University, offering courses in Sanskrit, Pali, history, and more, continuing its legacy as a center for learning India’s ancient traditions and languages.
