R.K. Degree College, Admission: Vizianagaram became a separate state in 1979. The local king, Dr. P.V.G. Raju, who came from a family that valued helping others and respecting all religions, gave up his land and title for free. His palace is now home to Maharaja College, one of the oldest colleges in India, started in 1879. Many famous people like social reformer Sri Gurajada, poet and singer Sri Adibhatla Narayana Das, wrestler Kodi Rama Murthy, and poet Sri Devulapalli Krishna Sastry were connected to the college. Talented musicians like Dwaram Venkata Swami Naidu, Saluri Rajeswara Rao, and singer P. Suheela also come from this place. These great personalities have brought honor and fame to Vizianagaram.
