IASE, Chennai, Admission: The Institute of Advanced Study in Education (IASE),also known as Teachers' College, is a well-known teacher training institute in Chennai and the largest in Tamil Nadu. It was first started as a Government Normal School in Vepery in 1856 and later moved to Saidapet in 1887, where it got its current name. The college building was built in 1889. Over the years, IASE introduced many courses like the B.Ed., M.Ed., and M.Phil., and even started offering Ph.D. programs in Education from 1986. In 1990, it was upgraded with support from the Central Government and was later given "Autonomous" status in 2005. IASE is known for its quality education and has been accredited with high ratings for its excellence. The college has also celebrated important milestones, including its 125th and 150th anniversaries.
