Secondary Training College Admission: Let’s take a look at how this college began. It was started in 1906 by the then Secretary to the British Government, following the advice of the famous Wood’s Despatch of 1854. The college was first called The Secondary Training College and worked on its own, giving out its own Diploma in Teaching. After India became free and the Government of Maharashtra took over, the name was changed to The Government College of Education. The first principal was Mr. J.N. Fraser, and since then, many great scholars have led the college. So far, there have been 44 different principals.
