PGDAV College Evening, New Delhi Admission: After Swami Dayanand Saraswati died in 1883, his followers started the Dayanand Anglo-Vedic (DAV) movement to continue his work of promoting education and removing social and religious evils. The first DAV School was opened in Lahore in 1886, and it later became a college. The movement grew with the help of many leaders who believed in combining tradition with new ideas. Today, the DAV movement has around 780 schools and colleges in India and other countries.
