National Institute of Nutrition Admission: The National Institute of Nutrition (NIN) was founded in 1918 by Sir Robert McCarrison in Coonoor, Tamil Nadu, as a small lab to study beri-beri. Over time, it grew into a major research center for nutrient-deficiency diseases. In 1928, it became the Nutrition Research Laboratories (NRL) under McCarrison’s leadership.
