Kartik Oraon Degree College, Admission: Kartik Oraon College, established in July 1960, is a major college under Ranchi University located in Gumla, where most of the population is tribal. It was built on 56 acres of land donated by Maharaja Lal Chintamani Sharan Nath Sahdeo and was founded with the support of local leaders, with Professor Laxmi Narayan as its first principal. Over the years, it has grown significantly, with more than 3,000 students in undergraduate courses, 950 in postgraduate courses, and many others in intermediate and B.Ed. programs. Supported by Ranchi University, UGC, the Jharkhand government, and the local community, the college is known for its strong academics and has recently introduced the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) to enhance learning.
