JD Birla Institute, Admission: J.D. Birla Institute (JDBI),established in 1962 by Sushila Devi Birla, has been providing quality education for over 50 years and is affiliated with Jadavpur University. It began as Smt. Jawahari Devi Birla Institute of Home Science to educate young women in Kolkata and later expanded to include Commerce in 1997 and a co-educational Management Department in 2002, changing its name to J.D. Birla Institute. In 2009, it introduced new B.Sc courses in Food Science, Textiles, Interior Designing, and Human Development, along with M.Sc courses in Food & Nutrition and Textiles & Clothing. An M.Com program was added in 2013. Recognized for its excellence, JDBI received an "A" grade from NAAC and is highly ranked by India Today, Career 360, and Times Magazine.
