IDRBT Hyderabad Admission: India’s banking system uses three important technologies to work smoothly. INFINET started in 1999, is like a super-fast, secure internet just for banks. It began with satellites (like the INSAT-3B) and later switched to an advanced tech called MPLS, which acts like a data superhighway to keep transactions safe. SFMS, launched in 2001, is a secret messaging system banks use to send money (like NEFT for online transfers or RTGS for big instant payments) and manage government funds securely. NFS, begun in 2004, connected all ATMs across India so you can withdraw cash from any bank’s machine—even if it’s not yours! Starting with just 3 banks, it grew to over 49,000 ATMs by 2009. Together, these systems make banking faster, safer, and easier for everyone!
