Indian Agricultural Research Ints Admission: The Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI),also known as Pusa Institute, started its journey in 1905 in Pusa, Bihar. It was made possible by a generous donation of 30,000 pounds from an American philanthropist named Mr. Henry Phipps. Initially, it was called the Agricultural Research Institute (ARI) and had five departments: Agriculture, Cattle Breeding, Chemistry, Economic Botany, and Mycology. In 1907, a new unit on Bacteriology was added. In 1911, the institute's name was changed to the Imperial Institute of Agricultural Research, and later in 1919, it was renamed the Imperial Agricultural Research Institute. However, after a massive earthquake struck on January 15, 1934, the institute had to be relocated to Delhi on July 29, 1936. After India gained independence, the institute was renamed the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI).
