GSVM Medical College, Admission: G.S.V.M. Medical College, Kanpur, is one of the top medical colleges in India and is named after Shri Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi, a respected freedom fighter. It was the first medical college set up in Uttar Pradesh after independence and was established in November 1955. The foundation stone was laid by Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the first President of India, on April 24, 1956. It was one of the five medical colleges started under India’s second five-year plan, and Dr. S.N. Mathur served as its first Principal.
