The Girijananda Chowdhury Institute of Management and Technology is located in Guwahati. It was founded on 7 September 2006. It was the first non-governmental engineering institute based in Assam and was sponsored by the Shrimanta Shankar Academy Society. AICTE, New Delhi, and the State Government approved the establishment of this institution. 

UG, PG, and doctoral programs are available at GIMT Guwahati. Under the UG program, it offers B.Tech., BBA, B.Sc, and BCA, while the PG program offers MBA, MCA, and M.Tech. For the BBA, BCA, and B.Sc programs, admission is based on merit. All other courses are based on entrance examinations. Students must have obtained at least 75% marks in their 10+2 from a recognized educational board to apply for the study.
