Gujarat Cancer Research Institute Admission: The Gujarat Cancer Society (GCS) was founded in 1960 with ₹5,000 from a charity event. With donations and government support, it became M.P. Shah Cancer Hospital in 1962 and later the Gujarat Cancer & Research Institute (GCRI) in 1972. Starting with 40 beds, it grew to 650 beds, offering modern cancer treatment. In 2019, a new building with 590 beds was inaugurated under Medicity Amdavad, featuring advanced facilities like operation theaters, energy-efficient systems, and cutting-edge diagnostic tools.
GCRI is one of India’s largest cancer centers, providing treatments in surgical, medical, and radiation oncology. It also offers services like physiotherapy, hospice care, and research through its Cancer Biology wing. Equipped with the latest technology, including CT scans, MRI, and radiotherapy machines, it ensures high-quality care. The hospital is expanding to 1,000 beds and continues to serve as a model of successful public-private partnership.
