GACC Ahmedabad Admission: Gujarat College, established in 1856 in Ahmedabad, faced many challenges in its early years, including a shortage of students and financial difficulties, which even led to its temporary closure in 1872. However, with the support of local citizens and government funding, it reopened in 1884 and gradually grew into a prominent institution. Generous donations from philanthropists like Sir Chinubhai Madhavlal Ranchhodlal helped expand its facilities, including the construction of science and law departments. The college also played a key role during India’s freedom struggle, with students actively participating in movements like the “Quit India” campaign. In 1942, Vinod Kinariwala, a brave student, was martyred on campus while holding the national flag, leaving behind a legacy of sacrifice and patriotism.

Today, Gujarat College has evolved into a large educational institution offering courses in Arts, Science, Commerce, and Dramatics, with modern facilities spread across a 30-acre tree-lined campus. It has produced many notable alumni, including leaders, scientists, and artists, who have contributed significantly to society. Over the years, dedicated teachers and visionary leaders have shaped the college into a center of learning and inspiration for generations of students. From its humble beginnings with Rs. 42,600 in donations, the college now stands as a symbol of growth, resilience, and academic excellence.
