Derozio Memorial College Admission: The college was started in 1996 with the help and cooperation of the people living in the Rajarhat area and the hard work of Sri Rabindranath Mondal, a former MLA. It is truly inspiring that people from all walks of life came together to donate money and even blood to raise funds for building the college. The idea for the college began with the strong wish of important leaders and local groups who wanted to bring better education opportunities to the area. The college was started in 1996 with the help and cooperation of the people living in the Rajarhat area and the hard work of Sri Rabindranath Mondal, a former MLA. On March 8, 1996, the foundation stone of the college was laid by Sri Satyasadhan Chakraborty, who was the Higher Education Minister at that time. Initially, classes were held in the evenings at Ramkumar Kamala Vidyalaya in Kali Park, starting from September 19, 1996. The new college building was officially opened by the former Chief Minister, Late Jyoti Basu, on October 4, 1997. Even though the college is relatively new, it has already achieved many goals in its first twenty years. With a positive outlook, it is moving forward towards an even brighter future.
