Dr. Ambedkar Government Law Clg Chennai Admission: Chennai's Dr. Ambedkar Government Law College, established by the British in 1891, is a 130-year-old prestigious institution and the first law college in South India. Originally called Madras Law College, it was renamed in 1991 to honor Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. Many notable alumni, including former President R. Venkataraman, Supreme Court judges, and politicians like P. Chidambaram, have studied here. In 2018, following a High Court order, the college moved out of its original High Court campus and was split into two campuses, with one now located in Pudupakkam, Chengalpattu District.
