Chellammal Women's College Admission: Chellammal Women’s College is named after Mylai Chellammal, a generous woman born in 1867 who used her wealth to help others after her husband, Vadamalai Gramani, passed away in 1911. Inspired by his hard work and values, she donated money to temples, relatives, and Pachaiyappa’s Trust to support education for poor students. Despite not being educated herself, she made her will in 1913 during World War I, focusing on empowering society through education. Her land in Pallavaram was later used to start a women’s college in 1971, along with a hostel for students. Her life and contributions remind us that even humble individuals can make a big difference in society.
