(CIT) Coimbatore Institute of Technology: In Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India, the Coimbatore Institute of Technology is a government-aided autonomous engineering college. CIT has been an affiliate of Anna University since 2001. The CIT was founded in 1956 by the V Rangaswamy Naidu Education Trust. It used to be affiliated with Madras University but later became affiliated with Bharathiar University. Tamilnadu's CIT Engineering College ranks 20th in the country. Students can choose from courses in the engineering branch as well, including B.Tech, BE, Integrated MSc, ME, MCA, MBA, and PhD programs. Admission is based on merit or the Entrance Test. The college offers undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in a range of engineering disciplines.
