He believed so strongly in the importance of education that he made it his life's mission. In 1845, he started the Baldwin Institute in New York, and later, in 1982, he founded the Baldwin High School. The Baldwin School for girls was established in 1903 in Bangalore, and it still provides excellent education to girls today. By 1990, people realized there was a need for better education options for women after school, so they started a Pre-University College (PUC) section.
