Azad Degree College Admission:- The idea for Lucknow University started when Raja Sir Mohammad Ali Mohammad Khan, a leader from Mahmudabad, wrote an article in The Pioneer newspaper suggesting a university in Lucknow. Later, Sir Harcourt Butler, a British official, supported the plan. In 1919, educators and supporters met to design the university, deciding it would focus on living, learning, and teaching subjects like Arts, Science, Medicine, and Law. Two wealthy rulers donated ₹1 lakh each to help. By 1920, the plan was approved, and a law was passed to create the university. Teaching began in 1921 using buildings from older colleges like Canning College and King George’s Medical College. With support from local leaders and the government, Lucknow University grew into a major learning center, carrying forward the legacy of its founding colleges and supporters. Today, it remains a key institution for education in India.
