Aeronautical Society of India Admission: The Aeronautical Society of India was started in 1948 and was officially opened by India’s first Prime Minister, Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru, who also became its first Patron-in-Chief. In 1963, he inaugurated the society’s headquarters in New Delhi. Over the years, many important Indian leaders, including Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, P.V. Narasimha Rao, H.D. Deve Gowda, I.K. Gujral, and Manmohan Singh, served as Patrons-in-Chief. Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, a famous scientist and former President of India, was the President of the society from 1992 to 1994.
