NIRF Ranking 2024
NIRF Ranking 2024 Engineering: On 05 June 2024*, the Ministry of Education will release NIRF Ranking 2024 at the official web portal @nirfindia.org. NIRF Ranking is a ranking methodology that showcases the top universities and colleges based on multiple parameters, such as Teaching Resources, Graduation Outcome, Perception of the students, etc. The National Institutional Ranking Framework is released yearly by the Ministry of Education (Government of India).
Candidates searching for the best college in their desired field can refer to the NIRF ranking received by the universities/colleges. It helps the candidates in deciding the best option for college. The students can see the NIRF ranking of the institutions on its official website - @nirfindia.org.
NIRf Ranking is done in various fields, such as Engineering, Pharmacy, Medicine, Management, etc. It sets a benchmark for the students to carefully know and evaluate the best option for a higher education institution.
NIRF Ranking 2024
NIRF Ranking is considered the most trusted framework for analyzing the university's overall performance. It was launched in 2015 with the approval of MHRD. Since then, it has played an important role in helping the students get an insight into the university and its excellence.
Over 10,000 institutions are expected to take part in this framework in 2024. The ranking is released after carefully comparing and analyzing every aspect of the university.
Last year, IIT Madras stood in the 1st position in the category of overall engineering colleges in India. Other colleges like AIIMS and IIM stood at the top in the overall ranking of medical and management colleges.
This ranking methodology not only helps the students make the most critical decisions in their career journey but also promotes healthy competition among the universities to grow and excel academically and ultimately become a helping hand in the overall development of India's education system. Hence, it serves as a vital academic resource for both the students as well as the institutions.

NIRF Ranking 2024 Parameters
NIRF Ranking does a deep analysis of the university by focusing not only on their academic performance but also on other important parameters that play a considerable role in the overall growth of the students as well as the institutions. The framework provides the rank to the institutions based on the scores they receive. The institution's overall score is calculated by adding the score of five individual parameters. More details about these parameters are mentioned below:
Teaching, Learning, and Resources
This parameter is concerned with the main academic and non-academic activities of the institution. It focuses on the number of faculty members present at the institutions and the ratio of faculty and students, with the main emphasis on the permanent faculty members at the university/college. The total number of labs and libraries, along with other things that elevate the education system of the institution, are the things that are put at the center of this parameter. Other activities, such as the sports resources and extra-curricular activities available at the institution, are also considered by the authorities in this parameter. It carries a weightage of 30% of the total score in the NIRF Ranking given to an institution.
Research and Professional Practice
Apart from the mainstream educational activities, the contributions of the students and the faculties also play an important role in attaining a rank through the NIRF ranking. The professors have a responsibility to play the role of a helping hand in the betterment of society by enlightening them with a new set of knowledge and findings and giving people a new set of perceptions to look at things. Hence, the quality and quantity of the research work being carried out in the institution are focused on this parameter. It has a weightage of 30% of the total scores given to an institution by NIRF.
Graduation Outcome
All the facilities provided by the institution would only be successful if the output of an institution is as good as the facilities provided by them. So, this parameter focuses on calculating the rate of graduation, which means calculating the number of students who have successfully completed the course they enrolled in every year. The success or failure rate is calculated by whether or not a student gets a good employment opportunity after graduation. This parameter motivates the institution not only to keep teaching conventionally but also to provide quality education to the students with the enhancement of placement facilities. This parameter has a 20% weightage of the total score of NIRF Ranking.
Outreach and Inclusivity
This parameter of NIRF Ranking analyzes the overall sense of inclusivity at the institution. The outreach and inclusivity of an institution are analyzed based on the number of students from different states and countries who have enrolled themselves in the institution, along with the female candidates admitted at the institution. Furthermore, the number of students with a challenging economic and social background who have secured admission to the institution is put into focus. The parameter also looks into the facilities provided by the institution for physically challenged students. All of the factors mentioned above analyze the inclusivity of an institution, which plays a major role in the growth of the students and the institution. This parameter has a weightage of 10%.
Peer perception
This parameter engages in the institution's overall reputation, which is analyzed by surveying stakeholders. Their response to the same, based on the institution's overall reputation, is what comprises peer perception. A good peer perception is achieved by inviting different stakeholders to the events organized by the institution. Doing so helps the institution create a good impression in front of them so that when the survey is conducted, the response would increase the institution's score significantly. This parameter weighs 10% of the NIRF ranking's total score.
NIRF Ranking 2024 Engineering Colleges
The NIRF Ranking 2024 for the Engineering colleges will be released on 5 June 2024. The list will include all the top engineering colleges with their rank and score, as well as the institution's overall score and independent scores in the five parameters of NIRF. The list will also have the institution ID and the institution's city. Like in other years, this year, the Education Minister will release the list containing the top 100 engineering colleges.
Previously, the list used to be dominated by the government engineering institutions like IITs and NITs. The same is expected to happen this year. Over 23 IITs and 31 NITs are expected to appear in India's top 100 Engineering colleges. 8 of the 10 government institutions appearing in the list belong to the IIT. The revised ranking will help the students finalize the best suitable engineering colleges based on the NIRF Ranking scores they received in various parameters.

Why is NIRF Ranking 2024 important
NIRF Ranking is considered one of the most well-defined and beneficial resources in helping students narrow down their options to the most suitable institution for them. Not only does it help the students choose the best institution for them, but it also helps improve the nation's overall education resources.
It plays a crucial role in improving the global rank of the various institutions in India, which, in turn, helps maintain a great reputation at the international level and, hence, offers better career opportunities for students. The system analyzes every aspect of the institution, including all the academic and non-academic activities, as both play their roles independently in giving the best possible quality education to the students.
Furthermore, according to recent data, India has over 4000 institutions for higher education, and choosing the best one among these becomes a tedious task for the students. With its great evaluation technique, this ranking system comes in handy in these situations. It provides all the recent and accurate data regarding the institutions' various parameters to the students and leaves it to the students to check and decide the parameters on which they will be basing their decisions.
