According to the American Psychological Association, the scientific study of the human mind and behavior is known as psychology. Psychology is a multidisciplinary field with various subjects such as sports, human development, health, clinical, cognitive process, and social behavior.
Psychologists study everything about reasoning, memory, language, personality, consciousness and learn experiences from the brain's workings. In psychology, various courses are available such as certificate courses, diploma courses, bachelor degree courses, and postgraduate courses.
Courses are available in both India and other foreign countries. It is more than enough to get a job immediately or want to work just after completing a bachelor's degree (BSc. in psychology). Eligibility Criteria (UG & PG) of Psychology
Undergraduate Level
- Students from any stream are eligible to do psychology courses.
- Students who completed their 12th with a minimum of 55% marks from a recognized board are eligible to apply for this course.
- During admission, additional eligibility criteria may also be mentioned by some colleges.
- Admission to the college depends upon the college that the colleges can take admission on the merit-based or through entrance exams.
Postgraduate Level
- Students who completed their bachelor's degree in psychology are eligible for a Postgraduate degree. The student should have psychology as the main subject for mark calculations in the final paper.
- Students who are appearing for the last year are also eligible.
- Students who graduated from open university or distance education in psychology are not eligible.
- To take admission in universities, students have to qualify for a written exam followed by an interview.
Entrance Exams for Psychology
MET: Manipal Entrance Test by Manipal Academy of Higher education. It is a computer-based test with 2 hours and 30 minutes conducted in the English language. In MET, the question paper consists of multiple-choice questions on English, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Aptitude. Out of 200 objective-type questions, every question carries 4 marks for the correct answer, and for every wrong answer, 1 mark will be deducted. Students who clear the examination are eligible and offered admission for undergraduate and postgraduate courses related to pharmacy, applied science, and engineering specializations.
DUET: Delhi University Entrance Test is a national level entrance exam conducted by National Testing Agency to allow admission into different undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctorate courses. The DUET exam consists of 100 multiple choice questions, and each question is of 4 marks with a duration of 2 hours.
BHU UGET: Banaras Hindu University conducts entrance exams for various courses in Undergraduate and postgraduate. There are 120 multiple choice questions in the exam. The entrance exam conducted by BHU covered topics such as Child, History, Psychology, and Individual psychology.
CUCET- Central Universities Common Entrance Test or CUCET is an all-India common entrance test conducted to grant admission for various courses such as Undergraduate/Integrated, postgraduate, and research courses in India's different state and central universities. CUCET is conducted once a year, and the exam consists of multiple-choice questions with 2 hours duration.
