JEE Main 2022 Registration Date

For JEE Main 2022, the last date for registration has been released by the NTA as 31 March 2022. All the students who are dreaming of getting admission to engineering courses in some of the top-ranked colleges like the IITs and NITs will have to appear in the JEE Main 2022. 

Based on the rankings of applicants in the JEE Main 2022, the students will have to appear in counseling for admission. The students can visit the JoSAA official website to apply to appear in the JoSAA counseling 2022. JEE Main Exam Date 2022 has been released, and the exams will be conducted between 21 April 2022 to 04 May 2022.

JoSAA 2022-23 Application Form

The application form for appearing in the JoSAA 2022 will be released by the authorities in October 2022. In the application form, the applicants will be required to enter information related to their academic and contact details. The process for registration for JoSAA 2022 is divided into 3 mein steps.

The students will have to first register themselves, fill the application form and then will have to pay the application fee for the form and the entrance exam. The application fee is to be paid by the applicants along with the form as in the application form; they will be provided with the link for fee submission.

JNU BTech Admission Process

JNU has announced that for admission to BTech courses under its campus, the students will have to appear in the JEE Exam and the counselling process of JoSAA 2022. JNU Admission process for multiple courses will be started soon on its website. 

In the recent notice, the university announced that they would provide BTech admission through the JoSAA 2022 counselling process that will be conducted after the JEE exam.

JoSAA Eligibility Criteria

For the counselling process, one must fulfil the eligibility criteria set by the JoSAA 2022. The selection would be based on the ranks scored by the students to get admission to the renowned IITs, NITs, GFTIs, and other colleges. But, priorities are given to those who have obtained good positions in JEE Advanced and offered admission to the top colleges for engineering courses. Mainly, this competitive exam is attempted by the students who have completed Class 12th with the non-medical streams, including Maths, Physics, and Chemistry. To become eligible for the counselling process, one should fall under the following criteria:

  • Those who have qualified for the JEE Mains/ JEE Advance are eligible for the JoSAA counselling.
  • General category aspirants must have scored at least 75% marks to take admission to IITs. For the reserved category, it is 65% marks.

The eligibility criteria have been further classified for JEE Mains and JEE Advanced. The detailed information has given below:

JEE Main 2022: Candidates must have completed Class XIIth with the non-medical stream.

  • Compulsory Subjects: Physics and Mathematics
  • Optional Subjects: Chemistry/ Biology/Biotechnology/Technical Vocational

JEE Advance 2022: Students must fulfil the criteria of JEE Mains. And also, they must have secured a rank under 250,000 and meet the cut-off released for JEE Advanced.

JEE Advance (Preparatory Courses): The reserved categories (such as SC/ST/PWD) must have cleared JEE Advanced to get into preparatory courses offered by IITs.

JoSAA 2022-23 Choice Filling

JoSAA 2022 Choice Filling and the registration process also start from 16 September 2022, every year. Students can complete this process through an online mode. For the counselling process, only JEE Main/ Advance 2022 qualified students will be able to log in and register for the counselling. This process involves the following basic steps:

  • Students must register themselves by providing their personal and academic details at the first step.
  • Once the registration is done, the next step is Choice Filling. Students have to select their desired course and college.
  • After completing the second step, one will proceed to the last step, Choice Locking. Here, students have to lock their preferences which will not be editable in the future. Hence, students must pay attention and confirm, especially in this last step.

JoSAA 2022 Counselling

In JoSAA 2022 Counselling process, students with qualified ranks get access to the top engineering institutes. This process involves 5 steps- Registration, Choice Filling, Online Reporting, Seat Allotment. Also, there are 6 rounds performed for the seat allotment. The seat allotment occurs in two ways: Mock Allotment and Final Allotment. Before the final allotment, candidates are subject to the mock allotment enabling them to edit the locked preferences. Further, the final allotment happens at the end. This whole process will take place in an online mode by the authority.

JoSAA Mock Allotment

There are two types of allotments done- Mock Allotment and Final Allotment.

In the Mock Allotment, the choices filled by the students are editable. For instance, if a student is unsure about the already filled preferences, they can edit it.

JoSAA 2022-23 Seat Allotment

The results are announced in the JoSAA 2022 seat allotment for the six rounds. Students can gain information about the seat allotment using their roll number and the password: data reconciliation, document verification, and validation of allocated seats made available online. Aspirants will also get a chance to respond to the query if needed. Apart from this, withdrawal of the seats is also allowed in an offline mode. If a student fails to report to the regional centre, the institute will dismiss the allotted seat and decline the admission.

  • Indian Institute of Technology (IITs): In India, IIT is one of the famous autonomous institutes, especially for technical higher studies, and declared as an Indian Institute of Technology by the Institute of Technology Act, 1961. As per data, most students prefer this institution to pursue B.Tech courses at the undergraduate level. As of now, a total number of 23 institutes are available across the country. Based on the NIRF ranking, IIT Madras is at the 1st rank among all the IITs. Students are offered admission to undergraduate and postgraduate courses through JEE Advance rank.
  • National Institute of Technology (NITs): After IITs, the second priority of most of the students in NITs. This institution accepts explicitly the JEE Mains exam for admission into engineering programs. There are 31 NITs offering courses at UG and PG levels. Students who want to study engineering courses (such as B.Tech, M.Tech, etc.) have to appear for the JoSAA 2022 and try to secure a good rank, at least in JEE Mains. Instead of JEE Advance, NITs considered JEE Mains rank scored by the students. As per the findings, NIT Tirupalachalli holds 1st rank by the NIRF, among all the NITs.
  • Government Funded Technical Institute (GFTI): In India, the total number of GFTIs is 32, funded by the Government of India. For admission to all the postgraduate and undergraduate courses, state or national level entrance exams are accepted by GFTIs. Assam University is the top among government-funded institutes with 102 NIRF Ranking. Through JEE Main, students are admitted into two courses, Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) and Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) programmes.
