CCH

Central Council of Homeopathy (CCH) is a legalised zenith body that falls under the category of Ministry of Ayush. The Central Council of Homeopathy was initiated by the Government of India in 1973. It is labelled as the ‘important council’ of University Grants Commission(UGC). It came into force to look after the needs of higher education throughout the country. Institutes that wish to provide a degree in homoeopathy should apply to the council before-hand. This step is necessary as the Central Council of Homeopathy (CCH) prescribes a specified curriculum. It even maintains the name of certified homoeopaths in the register. 

Historical Perspective

Central Council of Homeopathy’s Act,1973, aims at acknowledging the institutions. The course, Pharmacy, can be offered to students only when such academies are authorized by the Central Council of Homeopathy (CCH) It also talks from the curriculum aspect, like, maintaining a particular syllabus. These points are mentioned in the above act. These processes are also carried out other than providing a register of recognized homoeopaths in India. ‘National Council for Clinical Establishments’ was formed by the Union Health Ministry in 2007 to identify minimum requirements for a clinical study. Dr Ramjee Singh was the chairman of Central Council of Homeopathy (CCH) in 2016. He was jailed for gathering money illegally to provide a positive report that would permit the acknowledgement of homoeopathic institutions.

Course under Central Council of Homeopathy

Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery:-  The council has recognized this course in various institutions. The short form of this course is B.H.M.S. The duration of this course is five years. It is a degree provided to students at a graduate level. The curriculum of this course is such that it also focuses on the internship aspect. Students undergo one year of rigorous training in the internship program.
