In the 5G space, LTI and IIT Madras have formed a partnership.
As part of a collaboration with IIT Madras, Larsen & Toubro Infotech (LTI) has partnered with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) to conduct research in the field of 5G.
With this collaboration, LTI and IIT Madras hope to innovate in the emerging 5G space and enable low frequency RF deployments, framework validation, and use case testing with a 5G testbed.
LTI and IIT Madras will collaborate on research to develop low-cost, low-frequency 5G networks for rural India.
This project will design a 5G base station that will facilitate rural connectivity. LTI and IIT Madras will design these low-cost base stations and networks for rural connectivity. LTI will also offer expertise for research capabilities and infrastructure support for this project," an official statement said.
The partnership between LTI and IIT Madras reflects LTI's dedication to leveraging 5G technology to connect people in India from remote areas. A statement from Nichit Deshpande, Chief Operating Officer, and Executive Board Member, indicates LTI's commitment to making this technology available across the nation.
This project has been undertaken to participate in LTI's 1step CSR program.
According to Prof Mahesh Panchagnula, Dean (Alumni and Corporate Relations),IIT Madras, the 5G testbed project aims to spur Indian startups and industry to get an early start in 5G. The goal is to build a testbed closely resembles a real-world 5G deployment.
