Colleges in Puducherry will be closed till January 31 because of a rise in covids cases.

Students in Puducherry will not go to school or college until January 31. Because of the rise in Covid cases in the country, the Education Minister of Puducherry, A Namasviyam, said that all schools and colleges in the union territory would be closed.

A spokesperson for the Department of Health told PTI on January 9 that the department had asked the government to close schools for students in grades 1 to 9 because of the rising number of Covid cases.

First through ninth graders went back to school on December 4 because the pandemic situation was getting better.

Also, on Saturday, the Directorate of Distance Education (DDE),Pondicherry University, said that students who haven't finished their degree programmes within the time limit are getting one more chance to do so.

From 2005-2006 to 2015-2016, the university said that students who took MBA classes had one more chance to finish the course in the January 2022 session. Students who took MCom and MA classes (English, Sociology, and Hindi) and all other classes (from 2014-15 to 2015-2016) have one more chance to finish the course.
