BHU Starts a new Hindu Studies Course
Banaras Hindu University(BHU),Varanasi, has started a new Masters course (MA in Hindu Studies)and it's called MA in Hindu Studies. In BHU's words, this postgraduate course is the first of its kind in the country.
President VK Shukla of BHU started the course and said it was a programme that would meet the needs of students in 2020.
The Bharat Adhyayan Kendra, with help from departments like Philosophy and Religion and Sanskrit, will offer this programme. It's part of the faculty of Arts.
It will make the world aware of many things about Hindu Dharma that people don't know about, said Prof Shukla. It will also help spread the teachings of Hindu Dharma to more people. In the first group, there are 45 students, including one from another country.
Dr Vijay Shankar Shukla, the Director of the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts, said that having a course on Hindu Studies was important.
One hundred years ago, the department chair said that this course was important because it helped build Sanatana life values.
