UGC NET for PhD admissions, CET for UG/PG admissions from the academic year 2022-23

The UGC has approached all the central universities to check the possibility of implementing the Common Entrance Test(CET) for admission to various undergraduate and postgraduate courses for the academic year 2022-23. CET has also proposed admission to the PhD course based on National Eligibility Test or UGC NET examination to all central universities.

The National Testing Agency will conduct a CET test for admission to various central universities in at least 13 prime languages. The commission has also asked the private and deemed universities to consider the CET scores as a procedure for admission. The CET procedure was implemented from 2021-22 but was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The UGC has written a letter to all the vice-chancellors of the central universities to take appropriate measures so that the CET procedure can be implemented for the academic session 2022-23. NTA is already conducting JEE and NEET examinations in a minimum of 13 languages.
